THE MAKING OF A SHIRT
FILMED AT OUR LONDON WORKROOM

Margaret Howell has collaborated with filmmaker Emily Richardson on a short film capturing the process of shirtmaking at the company’s workroom in north London.

The film follows the making of a shirt from the ‘lay’ of cutting to finishing and checking. It captures the skill of the hand and the machine involved in constructing the numerous pattern pieces that are stitched together to make a Margaret Howell shirt.

The team skilled machinists produce limited batches of Margaret Howell shirt styles each season, continuing the legacy of Margaret's original desire to create the perfect shirt.
